Big Band Times presents Bob Howard and His Orchestra from 1935-1938  Forgotten by many this orchestra filled with great musicians entertained audiences as part the the Big Band Era.

Tribute to Bill Finegan Arranger, Composer, Musician who passed away June 10,2008. Finegan began his career during the 1930s and gained recognition as a top arranger with Glenn Miller, contributing to the bandleader's first hit "Little Brown Jug". He also worked with Tommy Dorsey for several years.

He became one of the first great innovators on tenor sax. He played with swing bands led by Benny Goodman and Tommy Dorsey, but Bud Freeman was happiest leading his own smaller, hot jazz bands. Listen to recordings of Bud Freeman playing his compositions like “The Eel,� and you can hardly believe that he had little formal musical training. Except for a few basic lessons when he was a kid, his music education consisted of “total immersion� in live jazz performances.

Big Band Serenade presents "Sun Valley Serenade" 1941 is the first of the only two movies featuring The Glenn Miller Orchestra (the other is "Orchestra Wives" in 1942). Besides "Chattanooga Choo Choo," other Glenn Miller tunes in the film are "It Happened in Sun Valley," "I Know Why," and "In the Mood".
